"Whether you believe you can or whether you believe you can't, you are right"

i thought this web would be just about backcountry skiing, my obsession.  then i realized i owe something to my friends and my family. i have been living away from my home country for a long time and i realize that i was neglecting many of my friends for all those years. so this site is for you dear friends as well as for strangers who stumble upon this site. I would like to share some of my stories and a few photographs.

i was born in czechoslovakia during communist times. i left my country few years after the
velvet revolution. i didn't speak one word of english so i went to england (very logical, ehm :-) . soon, i ended up kicked out on the street, passport, money and dreams stolen but i never gave up. seven months later i went to the united states where i met some very special people who changed my life. after some time i ended up in colorado where i lived in a gorgeous log cabin high up on the slopes of rocky mountains. my neighbour played piano at night and often a pack of wolves would join him howling. ever since i think piano and wolves belong together.
I have been living in canada for eleven  years, for past ten years in the subarcrtic region of yukon territory. life up here is like living in another country that has life of its own. it is a trap. many come for visit and never leave. winters are long and cold. but  that gives us time to get to know our backcountry and venture into one's soul.

LIFE IS GOOD
