Into the arctic
easter. hmmmm....what to do for easter? let's drive to tuktoyaktuk!! why not? 3 thousand kilometers,
most of it on frozen gravel and 300 kilometers on frozen mckanzie river and the arctic ocean. great idea!!
we packed the van, food and joshua the dog and off we went. i am not sure how to describe the feelings that this vast land provoked in me.
perhaps, robert service does better job of describing it:
...somehow the gold isn't all. No! There’s the land. (Have you seen it?)
It’s the cussedest land that I know,
From the big, dizzy mountains that screen it
To the deep, deathlike valleys below.
Some say God was tired when He made it;
Some say it’s a fine land to shun;
Maybe; but there’s some as would trade it
For no land on earth — and I'm one.
